Back in college, a couple friends, a professor, and I started up what we called "the Friday night music club". (Or FNMC for short.)
Every Friday we get together and trade mixes based around a particular theme. Usually these themes were rather specific, such as, songs that you have to finish singing when you've already parked your car in the driveway or songs that you would listen to while laying in the sun. The challenge was really placing yourself in that particular mood and moment and curating a set of songs that absolutely fit the theme.
In the mess and stress of design school, these Friday afternoons were something I really looked forward too. It was the best way of discovering new music and sharing what I'd discovered with my friends.
Even though we have dispersed to various parts of the country, I wanted to keep our little tradition alive. I love creating playlists and am constantly on the hunt for something new to listen to while I work. For my first edition, the theme was: songs you would listen to while standing in the snow in the dead of winter.
